Daniel Antoniuk: biography of a famous football player

This well-known Philadelphia player spent most of his career outside the local football world. Daniel played for many clubs in the United States and is remembered for his skillful game as a center forward. About the athlete’s sports and life journey, including his birth date, education, early football steps and achievements, read at philadelphia1.one.

Beginning and development of professional career

Daniel Antoniuk was born on January 23, 1981, in the City of Brotherly Love. The best years of his youth he spent in Pennsylvania before moving to Massachusetts to pursue an education at Wheaton College.

While studying, Daniel represented the college’s sports team. During those times, he was remembered for his effective attacking play and the record of fifty-four goals scored in two seasons.

At the beginning of the twenty-first century, a team named the Portland Timbers was formed in Portland. Antoniuk was invited to join them due to his successful play “at the helm.” The Philadelphian played 3 seasons for the team. The most productive season was 2004-2005, when he managed to score 13 goals in 24 matches. As a result, that year, he was selected for the All-Star team of the entire tournament in which he was competing.

Later, Daniel Antoniuk terminated his contract with the aforementioned club and joined the Vancouver Whitecaps, although he didn’t stay there long. In fact, he was remembered in the history of the current team as a “trade piece” when he was replaced by a more famous forward from Cuba, Eduardo Sebrango. The latter moved to Vancouver, while the Philadelphia native went to Montreal, where Sebrango had previously played.

Three goals in nineteen matches during the 2005-2006 season was the result of that draft. After some time, he tried to revive his professional career with teams such as the Carolina RailHawks, Charleston Battery, San Diego Boca, Edmonton and the Atlanta Silverbacks. With the latter football club, he managed to have a relatively good season, recalling his games in Portland. Seven goals and nine assists made Antoniuk one of the eleven best players in the USL league.

Appearance for local teams and how did the player’s career end?

In the winter of 2012, Daniel Antoniuk joined the Tampa Bay Rowdies from the North American Soccer League. For this current football team, the Philadelphian had one of the best seasons of his career, scoring 9 goals and contributing to 4 others. His effective attacking play helped the Rowdies get closer to a historic event, a triumph in the aforementioned tournament. In the semifinals against the Carolina Railhawks, Daniel scored the winning goal against his former club. In the following game, thanks to a precise shot by Antoniuk, they evened up scores and sent the game against the Minnesota Stars into extra time. As a result, in the penalty shootout, the Rowdies won the trophy.

Overall, the native of Philadelphia played soccer both outdoors and in indoor sports facilities over ten seasons. At the local level, he once represented the Philadelphia KiXX. However, he more often made a substitute appearance for the latter, leading him to eventually change the team.

On February 20, 2009, he transferred to the Chicago Storm of the Xtreme Soccer League and played nine matches for them. After that, he signed a contract with the San Diego Sockers of the MASL. Daniel played four seasons for the aforementioned club, winning the American soccer championship each year. In 2013, he joined a team in the top national division, the St. Louis Ambush. He then played for such teams as SD Sockers and FC Tucson. Finally, in the summer of 2018, he ended his professional career with the Tacoma Stars.
