From an early age, the boy delighted his parents with good grades in school. That is why, it was not difficult for him to enter the best higher education institution in the city. After completing his bachelor&#8217;s degree in communications and theater, he moved to Mississippi to study broadcast meteorology. After obtaining additional education there, Steve received an award from the American Meteorological Society. Only a few could achieve this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1972, the native of the City of Brotherly Love began taking his first professional steps in journalism. Initially, Baskerville tried himself as a presenter of a children&#8217;s show on local radio. Later, the journalist joined KYW-TV, the media division of the NBC TV and radio company in our locality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then the Philadelphian began hosting a morning talk show with his colleague Maurice and worked as a meteorologist for the aforementioned American holding. In 1984, he transferred to CBS, where he earned money as a weather presenter for the morning program. At that time, he was the only African American meteorologist in Philadelphia. Three years later, he was covering weather news on WBBM-Channel 2 in Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.philaone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2023\/09\/yfjdxpfnvmplleohrb9ll8l-n37wk3hqoaj8p6lamcyjzgq_awqxee3bdinfr85elqx4kxibdipb68hzxay0nki3mfpqlkt6ih6yem_67sizpajghgnuxmax28oevcpi8uimub_exyvafei-rsr2zio.png\" width=\"602\" height=\"400\"><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Awards and major programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout his media career, Steve was remembered for organizing projects such as &#8220;Thank to Teachers,&#8221; &#8220;Taste of the Taste,&#8221; as well as live broadcasts of &#8220;The Taste of Chicago,&#8221; a talent show among students &#8220;All-City Jamboree&#8221; and the social program &#8220;Beautiful Babies.&#8221; The most important projects he was involved in and hosted shared a common theme. They focused on a children\u2019s audience. The man loved children and interacted with them more than with adults throughout his journalistic career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many city residents remember such legendary TV shows as <em>What If<\/em> and the two-hour show <em>Dealing with Dope<\/em>. In these projects, the host represents a teacher who enlightens the young audience and instills in them from an early age an understanding of what is good and what is bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout his television career, the creative resident was recognized for his outstanding achievements with numerous awards and honors. The most notable among them is the Emmy Award, which Steve won six times: for the news drama series <em>Best of Chicago<\/em>, <em>CBS 2\u2019s,<\/em><strong> <\/strong><em>Sunday! With Steve Baskerville!<\/em> the broadcast of the LaSalle Bank of Chicago Marathon, as well as for reporting on the tragic tornado in Utica, Illinois. In 2005, the talented journalist received an Emmy for his work as a TV host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, in the 21st century, the American television worker earned awards, particularly for the previously mentioned children&#8217;s original projects. Experts praised Baskerville for his significant contribution to the development of the younger generation and his efforts to prevent negative behaviors among them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017, after more than thirty years in the media world, the Philadelphian announced his retirement. He currently lives with his beloved wife in Illinois.
