At that time, it positioned itself as a homeopathic medical institution. This direction was chosen for a reason, as the concept of homeopathy was just beginning to take its first steps. A specialized institution was created so that each student could receive proper knowledge and training in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, the college became known as Hahnemann Medical College. The institution was named after Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathic medicine. He was instrumental in spreading this approach among practitioners. Medicine is constantly evolving, so it is important to impart and thoroughly study even the most advanced knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the teachings of homeopathy began to lose their popularity by the late 1920s, the college continued to function. The institution trained top specialists in their field, and each professor made sure that students were prepared well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to its serious approach to education, Hahnemann College earned the status of a well-known academic medical center. The institution also became a leader in providing narrowly specialized care, particularly in the field of cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Womans_Medical_College_of_Pennsylvania\"><\/span>Woman&#8217;s Medical College of Pennsylvania<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.philaone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2024\/04\/5tb0dqu2kkfjxkoacfdlpvr2eie00lg0mvex3x8wixdanfa-je1sy8cp3lepmimzvlxdqerp5cdykxcchmkt3tmdankiwvh30m_lmkjslnupu-qdoy2egpsoagwoxhyldiclnz9vcdjvud_dgtnxwvq.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another notable institution is the Woman&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/iphiladelphia.net\/uk\/eternal-istoriya-najbilshoyi-ta-najstarishoyi-dytyachoyi-likarni-ssha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medical<\/a> College of Pennsylvania, which laid the foundation for the creation of Drexel College. It became known as the first place in the world where women were allowed to receive an education. This happened in 1850. Already at that time, the institution received its famous name, which is still remembered today, after its closure, the Woman&#8217;s Medical College of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main distinction among other educational institutions was that any woman could get an education. The college did not care about the race or financial status of the girl. The primary factor was desire. It became an alma mater for women who became remarkable doctors and scientists. They traveled the world, practicing medicine and helping those in need. Later, some of these women became teachers and became prominent individuals in the field of medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in 1970, the college changed its original name and became known as the Medical College of Pennsylvania. With this change, the quality of the institution did not diminish. The newly renamed college once again gained fame, this time for its achievements in educational innovations and research. Given that women already had the opportunity to officially study without fear for their careers, the institution continued to strengthen their position in medicine as professionals in their field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Merger\"><\/span>Merger<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.philaone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2024\/04\/lgb5c-kvfyn1s20buf9rrpkyq6tuusfuklibxpyo1toa3wbrf-hh4bzvnoacrxjg1jkg2e8tmkh7pd3y-eylsgfwt8zwr5cnfcjbxjlq2pn-mwrimqehcgmmxvgatw5ulrbylbmrfquhd_bqzlri0ny.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the arrival of 1996, the paths of two distinguished institutions crossed. That year, the Health Foundation decided to merge Hahnemann Medical College and the Woman&#8217;s Medical College of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania institution was the first to be acquired, followed by Hahnemann. Then the newly created college was named Allegheny University of the Health Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The responsibility for managing the institution was taken on by Drexel University, which was a historic establishment. So it is not surprising that in 2002, the college received a new and modern name, Drexel University College of Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The university itself was founded in 1891 by Anthony Drexel. Its main goal was to enable men and women to get an education regardless of their social status, income, religion or background. After the institution began incorporating various colleges and schools, including medical ones, it was ranked in the top 100 best research higher educational institutions in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Further_development\"><\/span>Further development<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.philaone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2024\/04\/ozvrurxv79eafjlwyia5mkbfa19fihiughqjxx992axkdhwentqv7cc0dvh1rfdczqscnitt3mu-w-vqvg2djxoll4tghlrmjxd16v5p21uifv4cg_q6auuj0o8lzbwlryns6uqmxk4g6blp40thrkm.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2013, the college established the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies, because the number of students pursuing doctoral, master&#8217;s or professional programs increased each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, the administration had to address an urgent issue regarding student internships. The problem arose because of the closure of Hahnemann University Hospital, where medical students did practical training. The solution came quickly, as the administration transferred the students to other facilities in a short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To become a leading educational institution, Drexel University College had to go through a long and challenging journey. Sometimes, mergers do not work out well, but this example shows that you won\u2019t know until you try. Undoubtedly, both Hahnemann Medical College and the Woman\u2019s Medical College were strong educational institutions on their own. They worked their way up for many years and became innovators in their field. But together, they proved to be even stronger and more effective.
